Norlight was founded in 2021 with a simple goal - to create strong, well designed canvas structures that support the growing world of boutique outdoor accommodation.
From day one we have focused on building reliable partnerships with glamping operators, venues and event organisers by supplying high quality tents and providing the aftercare they need season after season.
Our capability comes from a close partnership with our parent company, VSLOAR, founded by William whose heritage is Mongolian, the birthplace of the traditional yurt. The original designs were created to withstand the extreme and changeable weather conditions of the Mongolian plains, and this commitment to strength and durability continues through everything we produce today. VSLOAR now operates from a large manufacturing facility in China, giving Norlight access to advanced production, skilled craftsmanship and a development team with decades of experience.

This shared expertise allows us to develop products that go far beyond standard glamping tents. From statement structures like the NOR Eclipse canopy to the new inflatable yurt designed using recycled ocean plastic, Norlight remains focused on creating solutions that are both functional and environmentally responsible.
We also work with clients on bespoke projects, developing custom canopies, colour matched tents and new product concepts aligned with their brand and operational needs.

Our founder Alex
Alex founded Norlight in 2021 with a clear vision for quality, innovation and long-term reliability in outdoor accommodation. His connection to Mongolia comes through his father, whose roots lie in the birthplace of the traditional yurt. This heritage has strongly influenced Alex’s understanding of how tent structures must perform, with strength, weather resistance and practicality at their core.
These principles continue to shape Norlight’s designs today. Every tent is created to endure real-world conditions while delivering the comfort, style and attention to detail that modern guests expect.
Alex works closely with VSLOAR, the company founded by his father, to develop new ideas, test prototypes and bring fresh concepts to market. Together they combine creative thinking with technical capability, a partnership that continues to shape Norlight’s most successful products. A recent example is the inflatable yurt, designed to save valuable installation time while also offering a spacious interior layout without a centre pole. Its upcoming version, created using recycled ocean plastic, reflects Alex’s commitment to environmental responsibility and reducing waste in the outdoor accommodation industry.
Alongside product development, Alex supports clients who want to explore bespoke designs. Whether it is a unique canopy, a new tent shape or a concept for large scale outdoor structures, he enjoys the collaborative process and helping clients turn practical ideas into workable solutions.

All sales enquiries at Norlight are handled by our Director - Damian. With 30 years’ experience in business ownership, he provides clear advice and professional support to clients across the UK and beyond. Damian’s long-standing love of festivals (including a lifetime of visits to Glastonbury!), means he understands the demands of outdoor events and the importance of reliable, well-designed structures.
